Top 50 Christian Colleges & Universities Exceeding Expectations

EC4

This ranking is an attempt to provide an additional perspective on Christian universities and colleges by focusing on how much or little they enhance the achievement of their students from acceptance till graduation. Many rankings can be ill suited for some schools and favor a certain educational ideology. Our goal is to provide an alternative perspective to help parents and students make the most informed decision they can when selecting a Christian institution of higher education. Many schools are often overlooked simply because a particular ranking enshrines an ideology that favors certain institutions over others.

We first started with schools that were accredited by the Transnational Association of Christian Colleges and Schools (TRACS) or a member/affiliate of the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU). We then used predicted graduation rates of these schools and compared them with actual graduation rates. Predicted graduation data came from U.S News, who “determine a statistical relationship between a school’s six-year graduation rate and its average SAT and ACT test scores, expenditures per student, proportion of the entering class in the top 25 percent of their high school class, whether the university is public or private, and the proportion of the undergraduate student body that receives Pell grants.” The difference between predicted and actual graduation rates is what we are calling the “Exceeding Expectations Value.” In the case of a tie, we first used graduation rates to break them and secondarily used acceptance rates only in a couple of cases.
