Colorado Christian University

Colorado Christian University, or CCU, is a private Christian college located in Denver, Colorado. Founded as Denver Bible Institute in 1914, CCU has always had a firm foundation based on faith and the grace of God. In 2012, CCU was ranked in the top two percent of colleges nationwide by the American Council of Trustees and Alumni.

Online Psychology Degrees
Colorado Christian University offers an online psychology degree program from which graduates can earn a bachelor of science degree. The psychology degree program at CCU encourages students to incorporate the Christian faith into the analysis of human behavior. The degree requires successful completion of 120 credit hours. Up to 31 credits can be transferred from previous experiences, and the majority of the coursework can be completed in four semesters.

Regionally accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, CCU prepares students for successful employment after graduation. The school’s Master of Arts in Counseling program is nationally accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs.

Crown College

Founded in 1916, Crown college is a private Christian college in the small settlement of St. Bonifacius, Minnesota. A total of 1,101 students attend the college’s 215-acre campus and distance learning programs. Crown is ranked the 58th best Midwest Regional College by U.S. News & World Report.

Program Overview
Crown College’s Counseling/Psychology bachelor’s degree program is one of the few online Christian undergraduate psychology programs in the nation. The degree program provides a foundation in psychological theory, but the main focus is practical skills. Graduation requirements include 74 general education credits and 54 major credits. Major credits are subdivided into 15 Christian studies credits and 39 psychology and counseling core credits.

Crown College receives its accreditation from the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA-HLC). The college is chartered as a degree-granting institution by the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) and is a member of the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU).

Grand Canyon University

Founded in 1949, Grand Canyon University is a Christian university that offers a variety of degree programs. Along with its main campus in West Phoenix, GCU is adding a second campus in the East Valley to accommodate its rapidly expanding student population. It also employs full-time faculty members who are dedicated exclusively to serving the university’s growing number of online students.

Online Christian Psychology Degrees
Grand Canyon University offers an online Bachelor of Science in Psychology degree program that is suitable for several career paths. The university also offers a Master of Science in Psychology and several doctoral degrees. At the post-graduate level, students can choose to specialize in specific areas, including performance psychology and industrial psychology.

Grand Canyon University is a member of the North Central Association and is regionally accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. GCU is also accredited in Arizona by the Arizona State Board for Private Post-Secondary Education.

LeTourneau University

LeTourneau University, commonly referred to as LETU, is an interdenominational Christian university located in Longview, Texas. In addition to its main Longview campus, LETU provides education online and through satellite learning centers in Longview, Bedford, Dallas, Houston, and Tyler. LeTourneau is currently ranked the 27th best West Regional University by U.S. News & World Report.

Online Christian Psychology Degrees
LeTourneau University’s Bachelor of Psychology degree program is offered in an accelerated online format. The degree requires 36 hours of major courses, 36 hours of general education courses, and 52 hours of electives for a total of 124 hours. LETU is a transfer-friendly university, and students can transfer credits as long as they were earned at a regionally accredited institution with an acceptable grade.

LeTourneau University is accredited to award associate, baccalaureate, and master’s degrees by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACS-COC). The university is affiliated with the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB).

Liberty University

The largest private, nonprofit, online university in the United States, Liberty University provides a Christ-centered education for more than 100,000 students. The university’s programs encourage social and spiritual responsibility as they prepare students with the knowledge and critical thinking skills necessary for their vocations. Consistently ranked as one of the top 10 online universities by Online Education Database, Liberty University provides the opportunity for students to access a variety of resources while preparing for their future.

Online Christian Psychology Degrees
Students can earn a bachelor of science in psychology, with an optional focus on addictions and recovery, Christian counseling, crisis counseling, life coaching or military resilience. The program encourages students to explore human personality from a Christian perspective using the most current research as a foundation. Students completing the psychology program must complete 120 total hours, including an internship that provides three credit hours.

Liberty University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission, allowing students’ coursework to be accepted by other accredited schools. This accreditation also allows Liberty University students to be eligible for federal education program benefits.

Mid-Continent University

Established in 1949, Mid-Continent University is a Christian liberal arts institution. With a growth rate of 399 percent over the last 10 years, MCU is the fastest growing university in Kentucky. The university has a campus near the city of Mayfield as well as a distance learning program.

Online Christian Psychology Degrees
The Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Counseling program is one of four online undergraduate degree programs offered by Mid-Continent University. Like other Mid-Continent programs, the coursework is flexible enough to accommodate the busy lives of working adults. Courses are conducted in an accelerated format, and students can earn the degree in 18 months. The program consists of 16 classes taken sequentially for a total of 48 credits. Required courses include Theories of Personality, Human Sexuality, Christian Worldview, Abnormal Psychology, Social Psychology, and Tests and Measurements. Participants must transfer 45 to 80 credit hours from a regionally accredited university.

The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACS-COC) accredits Mid-Continent University.

Ohio Christian University

Ohio Christian University was founded in 1948 in Circleville, Ohio, as an institution for the education of clergy members. The university has since extended its reach to provide undergraduate and graduate students with accredited higher educations. As of 2012, 3,668 students attending either traditional or online classes geared toward working adults were enrolled in the university.

Ohio Christian University offers an online bachelor’s degree program in psychology that aims to teach students how to counsel patients and conduct research from a Biblical perspective. The program consists of 120 credit hours of coursework, including psychology concentrations and general education. This psychology program has been designed to provide students with a background in mental processing and human behavior that will prepare them for graduate school.

Ohio Christian University is regionally accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA). In addition, the university is accredited by the Association for Biblical Higher Education and is authorized to grant degrees in higher education by the Ohio Board of Regents.

Regent University

Regent University was founded in 1977 with just 77 students. By 1989, the college had 800 students in seven schools. Today, the university offers on-campus and online courses. Furthermore, the school schedules eight-week sessions to give its students educational flexibility. U.S. News & World Report ranked Regent University as a “Top 10 Best in Online Bachelor’s Education” while The American Council of Trustees and Alumni gave the school an “A” rating.

Online Christian Psychology Degrees
Regent University offers online courses that allow students to earn an associate’s degree and a bachelor’s degree in psychology. The school also provides an online Ph.D. program in Educational Psychology. Online students should plan to spend two years acquiring their associate’s degree. Graduates who acquire a bachelor’s degree in psychology will have the chance to work in counseling, social work and ministry work as well as public relations.

Sacred Heart University

Founded in 1963 by an American bishop, Sacred Heart University is a Roman Catholic university located in Connecticut. More than 6,000 students are currently enrolled in the university’s degree programs. SHU is ranked one of the best colleges in New England by GoLocal and the 33rd best regional university in the North by U.S. News & World Report.

Online Christian Psychology Degrees
Sacred Heart University’s online Master of Science in Applied Psychology (MSAP) degree program offers a general track as well as specializations in industrial-organizational psychology and community psychology. Industrial-organizational psychology focuses on the workplace while community psychology concentrates on schools, social service agencies, and other public settings. Those who participate in the general track choose four electives that reflect their career interests. The program can be completed in a part-time format, and an undergraduate degree in psychology is not required.

Sacred Heart University is accredited by the Commission on Institutions of Higher Education (CIHE) of the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC)

University of the Southwest

With its location in Hobbs, New Mexico, the University of the Southwest, or USW, offers on-campus students a picturesque view. In 1956, B. Clarence Evans began the school as a two-year junior college that focused on Christian Education. Today, the university offers undergraduate and graduate degrees for on-campus and online students. U.S. News and World Report honored the school with a top ranking for its education and business programs.

Online Christian Psychology Degrees
USW allows students to earn a Bachelor of Arts and Sciences degree, which will permit them to work in the psychology field. Course requirements include 40 upper division class hours, a set of general education courses and seven to 22 hours of elective classes. USW students can also earn a Master of Science in Education for school counseling and mental health counseling. To acquire a Master’s degree in school counseling, students will need to complete 42 course hours while the mental health-counseling program can be completed in 48 or 60 hours depending on the program.

The North Central Association of Colleges and Schools accredited USW by assessing the university’s management process, financial stability and student services. The organization also reviewed USW’s student academic achievement and institutional effectiveness.
